While maple syrup from the freezer is a delicious chewy candy consistency, I still adore maple cotton candy -which, while not 100% maple- is my fall taste of VT at the NC State Fair. Imagine my delight to find it available from my favorite VT maple producer! The maple sugar is a perfect addition to coffee, oatmeal, cream of wheat, or Maypo! And the sugar is nothing but 100% maple goodness.

I love using this Maple Sugar whenever sugar is needed for a recipe. It gives a nuanced depth that only Maple can add. Wow is all I can say!

Today I ordered another bag of course ground maple sugar. I am so happy to have discovered Purinton Maple since I had not found course sugar on any other maple vendor’s site. And even this was an accident since I read a negative review from a customer who had ordered sugar and received course ground rather than the regular sugar she had been expecting. At that time, course ground did not appear on their website, but I telephoned them and found out that yes, they do have it for sale. And it’s a wonderful product! I do a lot of baking and not only do I love maple in all its forms, I especially like this sugar because it can be sprinkled on baked good and not melt, thus leaving a dusting of delightful crunch. So, I guess the moral of this story is that when you are searching for a hard-to-find product, don’t hesitate to read the negative as well as positive reviews. That’s how I found this precious sugar and the friendly and helpful people who work to make it available to homesick natives who now live elsewhere.
